90 days to 50!

Where in the world does the time go?

I've heard it said that the older you get the faster the time goes.

Well, here I am 90 days from my 50th birthday and I have to admit that time is going by too fast.

So, instead of dreading the upcoming '0' in my age, I have chosen to embrace it.

For the next 90 days I am going to:

Challenge myself to step out and do things I have always wanted to do but was afraid to try.

Focus on my relationships with God and my husband.

Eat healthy.

Exercise regularly.

Complete my list of 90 things in 90 days.

I am so excited about the journey ahead.

I'll keep you updated as to my progress.

Prayer Request Update!

This is a quick update on my friend's daughter-in-love.

It seems that the tumor on the umbilical cord has disappeared!
She went to a specialist and they did another ultra sound and could not find the tumor.
She will go back in a few weeks to be checked
again, but we all KNOW that GOD did a MIRACLE!!!!!

Thank you for praying!

Happy Birthday Kori!

Four years ago today we welcomed our beautiful granddaughter into this world.

For a mom who never experienced the joys of a delivery room it was my honor to be able to witness the birth of this precious little girl. Standing on one side of the bed while my son stood on the other and coaching Melissa through labor was simply wonderful.

Watching my son witness his daughters birth and cutting the cord, well, words cannot express my feelings. As tears rolled down his face, I watched my son become a man. I still remember it as if it were yesterday.

Here we are four years later. She is growing up so fast. She is still as precious as she was the day of her birth. Yet she is so much more. Watching her laugh and play I see her personality blooming. She is becoming the little lady God intended her to be. I listen to her talk and know she has such a heart of caring.

I know we are blessed to have her in our home two days a week when so many families don't have that opportunity. I treasure every precious moment with her. I could go on and on but I will end with this:
Kori, Happy Birthday my little 'Angel Bug'! You are a joy and I am so grateful to God for bringing you into our lives. You came at a time, after Papa's transplant, when we could really see that God was blessing us with your life. I treasure every moment I have been able to watch your grow and thank God everyday for you. My prayer is that you grow to be a Godly young lady who loves the Lord and lives out all the plans He has for you. Have a great birthday! I love you so much, Nana

The Afters!

Well, aren't you lucky, it's only the 9th and we have completed both projects. It is truly amazing how the Lord teaches me lessons in the everyday stuff. I tend to be a perfectionist which is not a quality that is becoming of one of God's girls. It makes me judgemental, bossy and pouty when things don't turn out the way "I" think they should be.

So, when our second project got really messed up on the last step of the process - my face was really ugly. I pouted for about 15 minutes when the Lord spoke clearly to my heart about my attitude. OUCH!!!!!
When I began putting the desk back in it's place and taking pictures, Mark asked if I was going to 'fix' the mess up later and I said NO - I love it! How did that happen? God!!!! He showed me how we are imperfect, sinful, flawed individuals but He loves us just the way we are. Satan came in and attempted to removed God's love from us BUT - "Nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord". Romans 8:39
Isn't that awesome! I love how the desk turned out - flaws and all - because God has spoken to me through the 'process'!!

Here is just one set of the kitchen cabinets. We sanded and sanded to get all of the 28 years of 'junk' off the cabinets and then put a fresh coat of polyurethane on everything. We even have handles now. This house didn't have handles on anything. Someday we will put in new countertops but for today I really enjoy walking into my kitchen and seeing those nice freshly refinished cabinets.

Thank you Mark for all of your work!!!!

When that was done it was off to the desk. Sand, prime, 2 coats of red paint, prime, 2 coats of white paint, stain, sand, stain (oops! that's where the flaws came in), buff and put handles back on. It has just the right amount of red coming through the sanded spots and we spray painted the (real brass) handles brushed nickle and put the black fronts back on. (Mark was not real keen on the idea of painting the brass handles but I only have brushed nickle in my house and they just didn't match - perfectionism again!) I just love it!!

By the way, we did take lots of time to swim and enjoy each others company AND we did not have one argument the whole 4 days!!! God is good! We even rented a couple of movies.

Have a great day and remember to allow God to speak through the everyday things in life!

Project Update!

This is just a quick update on the progress we have made on our goals for this weekend.

By noon the cabinet door and four drawers were sanded and had the first coats of polyurethane on them. We took a break for lunch and then a nice hour in the pool. (Yeah - it's 112 today).

After lunch Mark put the final coat of urethane on the pieces and I prepared the kitchen and house for indoor sanding. What a mess!

We spent the next 3 hours sanding the lower cabinet faces. They are ready for urethane - but we have to buy more.

The worst has been the 'clean up' after sanding inside!!!

Everything has been taken out of the cabinets, washed, dried, and put away after cleaning out all of the cabinets. The great thing about this is that many things got tossed and everything is CLEAN!!!!

So, now we take a break for dinner and watch some of the Nationwide Race and then another dip in the pool. By then, I think we'll be done for today.

Tomorrow, it's off to buy some supplies, apply urethane to the cabinet faces and then begin the next project!

I'll keep you updated!

Happy 4th of July everyone~!!!
